SCORM School 2004: November 19, 2006

Overview and Objectives
Increase your SCORM knowledge by participating in this four-week, online SCORM School. The overarching goal of this course is to provide participants with a solid foundation of SCORM fundamentals and skills. Learn how to create a basic SCORM 2004 content package using readily available SCORM tools. Then, review advanced topics on metadata and content sequencing to gain a greater understanding of core SCORM 2004 concepts. The cost for this four-week online course is US$395.

Course Format and Duration
SCORM School is facilitated by the Academic ADL Co-Lab staff, and includes activities, group discussions, and synchronous meetings. While the majority of content is provided by self-paced activities, the focus is on collaboration and discussion between session participants. Most participants will spend five to ten hours per week completing course content. Several synchronous meetings are also part of the course, and provide an opportunity for participants to interact in real-time. (The sessions are recorded for the benefit of those unable to attend.)

Intended Audience and Required Skills
This course is intended for instructional designers and content developers. Participants should be able to edit HTML files, and have a solid understanding of how basic web content operates. Experience working with JavaScript is also very helpful. Participants should also have a high-level knowledge of what SCORM is and how it is used. For a refresher on the basics of SCORM and ADL standards, please review the Academic ADL Co-Lab's SCOurse. (Please review all of the modules except for The Metadata Information Model)
